Bed Bug Bites Often Leave Red Itchy Welts

Hungry bed bugs have arrived in Houston TX —

“Sleep tight…don’t let the bed bugs bite”…we’ve all heard the old nursery rhyme…i.e.…warning…but what does it really mean for modern day society?

Should we worry about bed bugs in our homes, hotels, or at our neighbor’s homes? Are bed bugs lurking in retail stores, movie theaters or schools? Am I at risk for picking up bed bugs when I travel? The answer to all of these questions is a resounding YES!

Bed bugs are an important subject to educate yourself about as these bloodsucking critters have infiltrated both homes and businesses throughout Texas and in other parts of the United States.

Their relentless attacks make them one of the worst pests for pests control experts to encounter as their elusive behavior allows them to burrow into a variety of places making them difficult to eradicate.

Pest control companies in Houston say that bed bug bites are nothing to laugh about. Most industry experts believe that they are not dangerous unless you develop a severe allergic reaction to the critters, but they can be annoying to deal with none-the-less. Many folks have experienced stress to the point of losing sleep over their presence. Diagnosing bed bug bites can be difficult in comparison to other types of bloodsucking insect bite wounds.

It is estimated that about 50% of humans suffer the allergic reaction associated with bed bug bites. The bite reactions vary as much as people do.

Typical symptoms are welts and swelling that are itchier than a mosquito bite, and often times a rash will appear in their wake. Some folks don’t have a physical reaction to bed bug bites at all and don’t realize they are actually a host for bed bugs.

Many people experience bed bug bites in a pattern of three, often referred to as “breakfast, lunch, and dinner”, but bed bugs will bite in clusters or randomly on your body as well.

Depending on the level of infestation, you could have bed bug bites on any area of your body. Exposed skin is their target zone. People most often encounter bed bug bites on their face, neck, back, hands, arms, shoulders and legs.
